ACCOUNTABILITY The Attendance and Welfare and Punctuality Lead is directly accountable to the Deputy Safeguarding Officer in conjunction with the Director of Ethos and Culture.
JOB PURPOSE To assist the Director in sustaining the school ethos and culture of inclusivity and academic excellence. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY All staff at Saint Gabriel’s College accept responsibility for school improvement and for providing an atmosphere in which students have the opportunity to fulfil their unique God-given potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological growth. We expect all staff to support the Christian ethos of the school, in word, manner and actions maintaining the highest professional standards and contributing actively to the development of the school as a thriving community.
KEY STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversight of the attendance and punctuality standards of all students in the college:
1. Take every opportunity in all school activities to raise standards attendance, setting the
standard of 100% attendance amongst all students 2. Lead the Advisory Teams in establishing, and maintaining positive attendance routines
and adherence to school expectations 3. Proactively foster positive and productive relations with parents and carers, securing a
partnership ethos 4. Liaise, organise and hold SAP meetings for persistently absent students. 5. Arrange and attend Court panel meetings 6. Assist with the preparation of attendance reports and statistics for external stakeholders
and and governor meetings 7. Develop systems and procedures to ensure all students are commitment to excellence
and able to adhere to school expectations

8. Maintain accurate data to effectively track student attendance and punctuality records of each student
9. Use data both hard and soft to inform and produce reports for a range of audiences including Governors and external agencies
10. Use data to inform smart measurable target setting, to raise individual excellent attendance and punctuality.
11. Use the whole school behaviour policy to create a positive learning environment in line with our Christian Ethos
12. Develop a range of strategies to address individuals not adhering to school expectations 13. Plan, create, sustain and maintain strategies that will address and remove individual
student’s barriers to attaining their commitment to excellence 14. Secure good working relationships with Academic and Support Teams 15. Be actively involved in the work to help staff to achieve constructive working
relationships with students 16. Use agreed procedures to sustain 100% attendance, taking swift action with students
who do not meet this expectation 17. Develop and support the effective onboarding for in-year admissions 18. Lead, manage, record and report meetings 19. Lead others in maintaining good order and discipline in order to raise standards and
maximise expectations 20. Safeguard the health and safety of all students. 21. Encourage and monitor all students’ participation in Extracurricular activities in the Year
Group 22. Ensure adequate provision is made for students who are not able to attend school
either due to ill-health or suspension. 23. Represent the school with external agencies and in other contexts 24. Effectively communicating with parents to support and improve students’ academic
success 25. Seeking out best practice from other schools. Creating and maintaining effective
partnerships to raise achievement

good community relations.
3. Have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young
people and to follow all associated child protection and safeguarding policies as

5. Be aware of the responsibilities under Data Protection Legislation for the security,
accuracy and significance of the personal data held in the school’s systems.
6. Undertake such other duties as may be required commensurate with the grade of the
post.

Qualifications
Required:
1. Degree or equivalent qualification, with behavioural science or psychology components
Desirable: 1. Teaching qualification 2. Post graduate qualification such as a NPQ or equivalent 3. Evidence of ongoing Professional Development, including Level 3 Safeguarding
Experience
4
Required:
1. At least 3 years of successful academic care, guidance and support at middle leader level
2. Success in coaching students for successful and productive experiences in a school or other relevant organisation
3. Safeguarding certification Desirable:
1. Have relevant experience in delivering high quality education 2. Able to evidence sustained significant student outcomes 3. Experience of designing and delivering student improvement initiatives
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
1. Expert knowledge of legislation and guidance on safeguarding
2. Knowledge of child psychology and development
3. Awareness of local and national systems, policies and processes
4. Ability to communicate a vision and inspire others
